Scoring options

  • 1Ladder mode: clear every rung first to win.
  • 2Points mode: spare = 1 point, fill-ball range = 1 bonus point.
  • 3Team mode: partners alternate frames and share one ladder.

Variations

Make it easier

Use wider fill-ball ranges or allow any clean first ball after the spare.

Make it harder

Require a specific fill-ball count range, such as 6 to 8 pins.

Optional setup

Use this as the main activity from Bowling Board. Play for points, bragging rights, or simple rotation first. STUD mode is optional and the activity works without it.

Why it works

It rewards the spare and the next controlled shot, so players cannot relax after one good ball.

Safety / fair play

Use a safe space, avoid hard contact or unsafe surfaces, adjust for age and skill, and agree on close calls before the round starts.

Best for: bowlers who want better intent, not just hoping for pins to fall.

Front-Six Chase

Each player starts a fresh front-six run and scores by the deepest clean strike string before a miss. Best run wins.

Best for: quick strike-pressure blocks without a full game commitment.

Breakpoint Ladder

Climb through called breakpoint zones and score only strikes thrown through the correct board window. Highest completed ladder wins.

Best for: players who want lane play and line shape to matter more than raw carry luck.

Double-or-Reset Run

You must throw two strikes in a row to keep the run alive. Any open frame resets the count to zero. Longest run wins.

Best for: bowlers who want more pressure than a simple total pin count.
