How to play
1Mark 3 serve zones with cones, towels, or verbal calls: wide, body, and deep.
2Each player starts on the first zone.
3A serve that lands cleanly in the called zone moves that player to the next zone.
4A miss keeps the player on the same zone.
5After clearing all zones, the player must land one final serve in a called zone chosen by the group.
6First player or pair to clear the full ladder wins.

Scoring options
1Ladder mode: first player to clear every zone wins.
2Points mode: each called-zone serve is 1 point; final called serve is 2.
3Doubles mode: partners alternate serves and share one ladder.
Variations
Make it easier
Use larger zones or let the serve count if it lands on the line.
Make it harder
Require the receiver to call the zone before the server starts the motion.
Game mode setup
Use this as the main activity from Pickleball Board. Play for points, bragging rights, or simple rotation first. STUD mode is optional and the activity works without it.
Why it works
It makes serves more intentional and gives beginners a simple target game that still helps better players.
Safety / fair play
Use a safe space, avoid hard contact or unsafe surfaces, adjust for age and skill, and agree on close calls before the round starts.
