  • 1Simple mode: closest legal leave = 1, hole-in-one = 2.

Variations

Make it easier

Count any ball inside a putter length as tied closest for newer players.

Make it harder

Players must call a bank, ramp, or clean lane before the putt for the point to count.

Game mode setup

Use this as the main activity from Mini Golf Board. Play for points, bragging rights, or simple rotation first. STUD mode is optional and the activity works without it.

Why it works

Mini golf already has a built-in target, and closest-to-cup gives every player a reason to care even when low score is out of reach.

Safety / fair play

Use a safe space, avoid hard contact or unsafe surfaces, adjust for age and skill, and agree on close calls before the round starts.

Obstacle Callout Round

Before each hole, call the main obstacle route: bank, tunnel, ramp, rail, or clean lane. Make the called route to score.

A clean called route that also finishes within a putter length of the cup scores double.

One-Putt Ladder

Start close and move one step back after every made putt. Highest completed rung wins.

Two misses on one rung sends the player back one step.

Bank Shot Bonus Round

Call a safe bank or rail before the putt. A made or close banked leave scores the bonus.

The bonus only counts if the ball avoids the wrong rail or out lane.

Worst Ball Mini Golf

Each player putts two balls and must continue from the worse leave until the hole is finished.

One rescue token per round lets a player keep the better leave once.
