Yard Games / Cornhole + Bags

Bags Cancellation Sprint

Play 6 short cornhole frames with cancellation scoring. Highest net frame total wins.

Final frame requires each side to call one board zone before throwing.

Outdoor Hangout / Backyard Bash

Parking Lot Call-and-Match

Call and match safe tosses around cones and markers. First to miss 3 calls loses.

Each player gets one mirror-hand throw per round.

Swimming Pool / Pool Ball + Float

Beach Ball Keep-Up Rally

Keep a beach ball in the air with clean taps while everyone stays in their own safe water space. Longest clean rally wins.

Every fifth touch must be called before it happens or the rally resets.

Skill + Duel / Skill Shot

Beanbag Bank Shot Match

Bank beanbags off a board into bins at 3 ranges. First side to 15 wins.

Long-range bank in the final round is worth 3.

Football

Set route targets at short, mid, and deep distances. Score points for each clean hit in 12 throws.

Best for 4-12 players over 15-30 min in Tailgate. Agree the target and tracking method before starting.

Yard Games / Cornhole + Bags

Miss all bags at a distance and move back one step on the ladder.

Outdoor Hangout / Backyard Bash

Patio Scavenger Sprint

The host names 5 safe outdoor items or spots. Teams race to collect or photograph them first.

Final item must be found by a player who has not scored yet.

Swimming Pool / Pool Ball + Float

Floating Cup Target Toss

Toss soft floating balls into cups or buckets that drift inside an agreed target lane.

A called-color target counts double, but a splash outside the lane scores zero.

Football

Long-Ball Catch Combo

Pairs alternate deep throws and catches from marked lines. Most complete catches in 10 attempts wins.

Best for 4-12 players over 15-30 min in Tailgate. Agree the target and tracking method before starting.

Yard Games / Cornhole + Bags

Partner Switch Bags

Play mini-games to 7, then winners split and pick new partners. Best individual record after four games wins.

Last game uses blind-draw partners.

Outdoor Hangout / Backyard Bash

Cooler Carry Relay

Teams carry a light, empty cooler through 4 marked handoff spots. Fastest clean relay wins.

Every handoff must include a new carrier.

Float Ring Toss Ladder

Toss soft floating rings toward floating targets from increasing distances. Highest completed rung wins.

Clear a rung to move back; miss two in a row and return one rung closer.

Football

Timed Route Ladder

Run a full route tree in sequence with timed completions. Fastest clean ladder wins.

Best for 4-12 players over 15-30 min in Tailgate. Agree the target and tracking method before starting.

Yard Games / Cornhole + Bags

Quick answers

What backyard game is easiest to explain?

Cornhole-style bags games, bocce target rounds, and simple relay formats are usually easiest because the target and turn order are obvious.

What if we only have a small backyard or patio?

Use tabletop, card, cup, bottle-flip, photo, or mini-target games. Avoid sprinting or hard-contact formats in tight spaces.
