How to play 10-Ball Call-Shot Race

Step 1

Contact the lowest-numbered ball first and call the intended ball and pocket before every shot.

Step 2

Only the incoming player's second shot after a legal break may be declared as a push out.

Step 3

A legal called pocket continues the turn; misses and fouls pass the table.

Step 4

A legally called 10-ball wins the rack, then alternate the next break.

Scoring

How the result works

Each legally won rack scores 1 match point.

Example: After a legal break, the incoming player pushes out on the second shot; later a called 10-ball wins the rack.

Host tip

Keep it clean

Treating a safety as exempt from the call-shot rule or allowing push outs later in the rack.

Safety: Keep cue swings clear of people and nearby tables.
