The keyed year is the named song/artist release, not the video upload or remaster year. Before guests arrive, open the official references, preview the actual playback version for volume/clean content and cue a ten-second excerpt beginning at 0:30; hide titles and ads from answerers. If a link fails or the version differs, use an already available matching recording and write its source and cue on the key, or omit that item for everyone. Do not invent a replacement answer. Prepare six answer rows and announce ordinary mode or closest-without-going-over mode before track one. The person preparing the private key or playback order is the unscored facilitator for this complete compared format, included in the 3–12 roster. Every other person has the same offered scored answer windows. Keep answer keys and player metadata hidden until the shared lock; a neutral scribe may record an answer without supplying it. Play each keyed ten-second excerpt once, allow 15 seconds to write a year and lock all sheets. Reveal that item’s year and source, then continue through all six. In without-going-over mode, any above-key guess earns 0 and is ineligible for a closest-year mention. In ordinary mode, an exact keyed year earns 3 challenge points, a guess one or two years on either side earns 1, and anything farther earns 0. In without-going-over mode, exact still earns 3, one or two years below earns 1, and any above-key or farther-below guess earns 0. “Closest” can be announced as that track’s result but adds no extra unposted points. After the full posted set and equal offered answer windows, highest challenge total wins; tied leaders share unless all tied sides request one prepared neutral tiebreak clip with equal time. A second tie shares. For a requested single playoff use the same announced task/chart on one additional checked clip whose answer has not been revealed; if none is prepared, share. The playoff decides placement only and does not add ordinary-round points. Selected rule: Use a ten-second cap for every excerpt from the host key, stopping immediately at the cap. If the actual player overshoots before answers lock, void and replace the item for everyone; do not let one team hear a longer clue. Keep all scored answerers’ common lock before any key reveal. A replay or replacement occupies only the affected slot and does not add an extra point opportunity. If the answer was exposed before a fair lock, void the slot for everyone; a required stop never consumes an ordinary replay token. Use only this selected modifier. It replaces only the schedule, task, eligibility or point condition it explicitly names; keep the remaining host rules and do not stack other optional twists. Music Timeline is adult social listening. Keep volume apartment-safe, use clean edits when mixed company needs them, and never force singing. No phone cheating when honor mode is on. If a link fails or the version differs, use an already available matching recording and write its source and cue on the key, or omit that item for everyone. Do not invent a replacement answer. Cue each recording’s first three seconds of music, noting the actual cue before play so a title card or spoken introduction is not the hook. The person preparing the private key or playback order is the unscored facilitator for this complete compared format, included in the 3–12 roster. Every other person has the same offered scored answer windows. Keep answer keys and player metadata hidden until the shared lock; a neutral scribe may record an answer without supplying it. Play no more than three seconds, then give everyone 15 seconds to write a title and artist on separate lines. Lock all answers before revealing the prepared key. Use all six once; nobody gets an extra listen merely for shouting sooner. Correct title earns 1 and correct artist 1 challenge point, independently. A correct artist with a wrong title still earns 1. Maximum 12 over six clips. Selected rule: Before clip one, post title 1 and artist 1. Check them independently against the prepared key; one correct field still earns its 1 if the other is wrong. Do not demand both for a point or add a full-answer bonus. Instead of ten seconds, cue exactly one second from the prepared 0:30 position. One included unscored facilitator prepares the key and cues all six clips. Divide the remaining roster into two teams with sizes differing by at most one; even a one-person side is a valid team here. Post a visible first-buzz cue and draw the simultaneous-buzz priority before track 1. Both teams receive the same six buzz opportunities; no personal lead-count equality is claimed. Play one second, then open buzzing for ten seconds. The first recognized team names the song. A wrong buzz locks that team out for the rest of this clip only; other teams may then answer within the same window. Do not continue playing more audio after the cap. A simultaneous buzz is resolved by a drawn order posted before play. A full pass uses only that team’s current answer opportunity. The clip window continues for any still-eligible team; a team cannot make another buzz after a wrong answer or pass on that clip. The first correct song title earns its team 1 challenge point; no correct response earns 0. Accept a recognizable title despite minor punctuation. A false buzz deducts no points and its lockout ends before the next clip. After the full posted set and equal offered answer windows, highest challenge total wins; tied leaders share unless all tied sides request one prepared neutral tiebreak clip with equal time. A second tie shares. Selected rule: A wrong first buzz gives that team no more answer for the rest of that one-second clue’s ten-second answer window. Other teams may answer. Clear the lockout before the next track; deduct no earlier points. Use only this selected modifier. It replaces only the schedule, task, eligibility or point condition it explicitly names; keep the remaining host rules and do not stack other optional twists. A second tie shares. For a requested single playoff use the same announced task/chart on one additional checked clip whose answer has not been revealed; if none is prepared, share. The playoff decides placement only and does not add ordinary-round points. Selected rule: Make teams and give each one replay token before clip one. A team may spend it before locking an answer to hear the same ten-second excerpt once more; it adds no new segment or second replay. All hear the public replay, but only the requesting team spends its token. Unspent tokens earn no points. A replay request must precede the common lock and every key reveal. Pause all answer clocks, replay the same excerpt publicly, then resume the common remaining answer time before locking everyone together. Required safety, access, inaudible-playback or device-failure pauses never spend an ordinary token or create extra scoring slots. Use only this selected modifier. It replaces only the schedule, task, eligibility or point condition it explicitly names; keep the remaining host rules and do not stack other optional twists. If a link fails or the version differs, use an already available matching recording and write its source and cue on the key, or omit that item for everyone. Do not invent a replacement answer. Prepare two independent three-track lanes: beginner uses tracks 2, 4, 6 with the artist names and three-title answer bank visible; challenge uses tracks 1, 3, 5 without the bank. People choose their lane without judgment and may use a written response or access support. The person preparing the private key or playback order is the unscored facilitator for this complete compared format, included in the 3–12 roster. Every other person has the same offered scored answer windows. Keep answer keys and player metadata hidden until the shared lock; a neutral scribe may record an answer without supplying it. Play each lane’s three ten-second clips, giving 15 seconds for a title and artist. Keep the other lane’s sheet separate; nobody is required to switch to harder questions. Reveal keys only after each lane locks. Both lanes use 1 for title and 1 for artist, maximum 6, but their supports and difficulty differ. Keep separate mini-scoreboards and do not combine totals into a cross-lane champion. Celebrate each lane’s highest total, with shared ties, after equal three-clip opportunities within that lane. Selected rule: Use the host’s three checked beginner tracks and visible answer bank; title 1 and artist 1 still apply. Keep its results separate from the challenge lane and celebrate both, without pretending equal scale proves equal difficulty. Use only this selected modifier. It replaces only the schedule, task, eligibility or point condition it explicitly names; keep the remaining host rules and do not stack other optional twists. One included unscored facilitator prepares the private playback/key. Let M be the remaining roster count and use T=max(2, ceil(M/3)) teams, from 2 to 4. Deal those names one at a time around the T team lists until everyone is placed; sizes differ by at most one and none exceeds 3. Post those actual teams before play; a one-person team is allowed at the minimum roster. Draft distinct starting-decade cards from 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s. Use track 1 for 1960s, 3 for 1970s, 5 for 1980s and 6 for 1990s. Prepare four ten-second cues per recording at 0:30, 0:50, 1:10 and 1:30, checked before play. Supply four answer rows per team and rotate lead answerers before repeats; with at most 3 members everyone has a scored lead role. Play four sets. In each set, play one checked excerpt from each of the four decades in decade order, using that set’s cue position. Every team hears the same four excerpts and may discuss quietly. Its assigned decade stays fixed for that entire set; lock title/artist for only that one excerpt within 15 seconds of hearing it. At the end of the set, every team has one locked row. Then move every team one decade forward for the next set: 1960s→1970s→1980s→1990s→1960s. Do not let a team answer a second decade in the same set. Reveal no song/artist key until all four sets are locked. Every team therefore answers each decade once, four scored clips total. Rotate the lead answerer before repeats, so each actual teammate has a scored lead role. Equal team quotas do not claim identical personal lead counts or musical difficulty. Each correct title earns 1 and correct artist 1 challenge point, maximum 8 across four counted decades. Score only that team’s locked row for its current decade; hearing the other excerpts creates no extra scored row. Every team receives four title/artist opportunities; a missed, omitted or passed field earns 0. After all four sets and four locked assigned-decade rows per team, reveal the prepared keys and compare team totals. Highest total wins and ties share; no unprepared extra clip or unscored teaching role decides the result. Selected rule: Draft one unused starting-decade card per actual team before set 1; at most four teams use this four-decade key. Keep starting assignments distinct and fixed throughout each complete set, then rotate every team one decade forward together. All teams’ assigned decades remain distinct in the next set. Complete all four sets, four assigned title/artist rows each, maximum 8. Use only this selected modifier. It replaces only the schedule, task, eligibility or point condition it explicitly names; keep the remaining host rules and do not stack other optional twists. Selected rule: Before clip 1, announce that only the checked Whitney Houston I Will Always Love You clip is bonus-eligible. Each individual with a correct locked song title may also lock original-artist/cover-artist before any reveal; cover earns 1 additional point, otherwise 0. Dolly Parton’s original-artist credit is supported by https://www.whitneyhouston.com/news/whitney-houston-i-will-always-love-you-1992/. Artist/title base 1/1 values stay independent; no cover bonus is invented on other clips. Use only this selected modifier. An exact keyed year earns 3 challenge points; a year one or two away earns 1 and farther guesses 0. The group also earns 1 shared playlist-check process point if the checked set is used; record it separately so it cannot decide a music tie. Completing the actual advance playlist check earns the shared process point; an unexpected-content skip, safety stop or quieter request never removes earned process credit. Keep all scored answerers’ common lock before any key reveal. A replay or replacement occupies only the affected slot and does not add an extra point opportunity. • Compatible host: Genre Draft Karaoke Optional. Use the original clean house chorus “Our paper lantern lights the way / We save a seat for you today.” Post three performance-style cards—spoken pop, gentle country-style storytelling and rhythmic spoken-word—as house prompts, not factual classifications of artists. Show the chorus so no lyric recall is needed. Draw the name order once. In that order each person chooses one available style; return all three style cards when the set is used, then continue with the next name. Continue until every name has chosen once. Offer one chorus-only turn each: sing, speak, speak-sing, read the words or pass. Listeners respond kindly and never rate pitch. Finish one complete rotation. A completed chorus turn earns 1 completion point, whether sung, spoken, speak-sung or read. A full role pass earns 0 new points, with no explanation or deduction. Pitch and loudness earn no bonus. Keep individual results for the one offered rotation; supportive delivery is completion, while no delivered entry is not completion. After one offered chorus turn per person, completed turns share the 1-point result; full passes stay 0. If everyone passes, close without a completed-entry winner. Do not require another performance or judge pitch to break a tie. Selected rule: A completed sung, spoken, written/read or co-presented house chorus earns the same 1 completion point. A full role pass earns 0 new points, without explanation or deduction. Do not judge pitch or require performance to preserve earlier results, and do not attach performance points to an unrelated title-guess host. Use only this selected modifier. If a link fails or the version differs, use an already available matching recording and write its source and cue on the key, or omit that item for everyone. Do not invent a replacement answer. Divide into two teams and agree that only these six prepared tracks are eligible; nobody may spring an obscure unkeyed deep cut. Each team will choose three clips for the other. One included unscored facilitator prepares/cues the key and keeps the selecting team’s screen out of the answering team’s view. Divide the other participants into two teams differing by at most one; one-person teams at the minimum roster still receive all three answers. Teams alternate choosing an unused eligible track for the opponent, A then B until each has faced three. The answering team gets 15 seconds after the ten-second excerpt to submit one joint title/artist answer. The choosing team cannot score its own known choice. When the six-track pool is exhausted, stop. Correct title earns 1 and correct artist 1 challenge point to the answering team, maximum 6. A broken clip is replaced from an unused checked choice or voided as a paired slot for both teams so answer counts stay equal. Name the paired-slot mapping before play: each team’s first/second/third offered choice corresponds to the opponent’s first/second/third. If a failed slot cannot be replaced before revealing, void that indexed pair of slots for both teams, even if the other result had already been recorded. After three offered opponent-selected clips per team, highest total wins and ties share. Selected rule: For this selected mode, the unscored facilitator shuffles and cues the six prepared tracks privately; teams do not choose their opponent’s clue, so neither competing side knows the current playback choice. This replaces the host’s opponent-selection schedule. Alternate first-answer rights A, B, A, B, A, B. Play the host’s ten-second excerpt; give the first side ten seconds and, after a miss or pass, one ten-second bounce to the other side without a new excerpt. Each correct title/artist field is worth 1. Lock the first answer: if both fields are correct, close that track; if one field is wrong/omitted, the single bounce can earn only its still-unclaimed field. On a complete miss both fields are available. Reveal only after the final offered answer. No field is scored twice, and six tracks give each side three first rights. A pass uses its current right, without erasing earlier points. Use only this selected modifier. Draw a line labeled 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and give everyone the same three-minute window. Score each submitted lineup individually. Everyone arranges all six cards from earliest to latest without devices. At three minutes lock every entry, then reveal the named sources/years. Check each neighboring pair in that submitted line, even when the whole line is wrong. A person may pass a whole lineup for 0 without changing anyone else’s answer time. Each adjacent pair whose left-hand year is earlier than the right-hand year earns 1 challenge point, maximum 5. If a replacement set has equal years, either order of that equal-year pair counts. This is not one point per exact year. After one simultaneous lineup and source reveal, highest adjacent-pair total wins and ties share. A second tie shares. For a requested single playoff use the same announced task/chart on one additional checked clip whose answer has not been revealed; if none is prepared, share. The playoff decides placement only and does not add ordinary-round points. Selected rule: Use the host’s individual written sheets: every scored participant answers each of the same six hooks, title 1 and artist 1 per track. The included key/order facilitator remains unscored. A declined answer is an offered 0, not a removed sheet or divisor change. If a link fails or the version differs, use an already available matching recording and write its source and cue on the key, or omit that item for everyone. Do not invent a replacement answer. Each willing DJ chooses three tracks from the six-track set before playing. Post a 1–3 rating scale for variety (different named artists) and guessability (the chosen cue offers an audible identifying feature); neither category rates a person’s taste. For each DJ, play the three chosen clips and let listeners write title guesses, then reveal them without guessing points. After the third clip, every non-DJ rates variety and guessability separately: 1 little evidence, 2 some, 3 clear evidence. Rotate the DJ role after three tracks; allow a co-DJ or pass. A co-DJ may help the named DJ operate playback without receiving that DJ’s rating or losing their own later offered DJ slot. Each non-DJ submits at most one valid 1–3 rating per category or abstains; a self-rating, duplicate or out-of-range value is invalid. The two categories remain separate on the sheet until their submitted ratings are averaged. Average all submitted ratings across both categories for that DJ; for example, scores 2, 3, 1, 2 average 2. Do not add guesses to this rating score. A blank rating is omitted from the denominator; if nobody rates, report no rating rather than 0. After one offered three-track DJ set per person, highest exact average wins and tied averages share; unscored passes do not rank below rated sets. Selected rule: Use exactly three selected tracks per DJ before the next willing person or co-DJ takes over. Complete every offered DJ slot before repeats; no one person owns playback for the night. Keep the posted two-category average and no guessing bonus. A co-DJ assists the named entry without receiving its rating; keep their own later offered DJ slot separate. A full pass remains unrated, not a zero used to punish someone for declining. Use only this selected modifier. If a person accidentally sees that answer, they declare it before locking; mark only that answer unscored, not the whole sheet. The included unscored facilitator controls playback and hides titles; this format does not give a prepared-key holder a scored answer sheet. A correct title earns 1 challenge point. An exact keyed year earns 3, a year one or two away earns 1 and farther guesses earn 0. An answer declared accidentally seen before lock earns 0 without deduction or accusation. Show title and year subtotals separately. After the full posted set and equal offered answer windows, highest challenge total wins; tied leaders share unless all tied sides request one prepared neutral tiebreak clip with equal time. Play exactly three seconds; after a first-side miss or pass, give the other side one replay of those same three seconds and one ten-second bounce window. Use tracks 1, 3 and 6 for a three-card set. Before play, choose chronological order or a theme order such as “leaving, finding a crowd, returning home.” The theme is an invented interpretation, not the artists’ stated meaning. Choose one included unscored key holder for chronology mode; other participants submit independent entries. Theme mode has no private factual order key and everyone may enter. Each person orders the three title cards in two minutes and gets 20 seconds to explain the sequence. For chronological mode reveal 1967, 1975, 1992 after all lock. For theme mode, listeners vote for a connection explicitly supported by something the teller named; do not vote merely for favorite music. A theme voter may choose one other completed explanation or abstain; self-votes or multiple choices are invalid. A full explanation pass supplies no entry; supported or shorter explanations remain eligible. If no valid votes exist, record 0 theme points without a placement award. Chronological mode awards 1 per correctly ordered adjacent pair, maximum 2. In theme mode each voter gives one other explanation 1 challenge-point vote. Announce the chosen mode and chart beforehand. After one offered order and 20-second explanation per eligible person, highest total in the prechosen mode wins; ties share. If no entry is completed, close without an entry winner. Do not mix chronology points with theme votes or add a new listening tiebreak. Selected rule: Keep the host’s three cards and chosen chronology/theme mode. Each person gets 20 seconds to explain a connection; theme ballots judge the stated logic, not a favorite song or the artist’s supposed private meaning. Use the posted mode’s points only. • Compatible host: Duet Draft Partners. Choose identification or chorus-performance mode before drafting; keep their scores separate. Draw a first name, then let each person invite one still-unplaced willing person to follow them in a circle, with mutual agreement before the circle closes. Everyone may request another arrangement, a spoken/written part or a full pass without explanation. Post N adjacent pair entries for N people: AB, BC, CD and so on through the last person with A. Each person belongs to two real pairs, including an odd 3–12 roster. For identification, prepare two checked ten-second excerpts at 0:30: Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a01QQZyl-_I; artist credit https://www.queenonline.com/news/under-pressure-on-now-yearbook-81-collection) and Don’t Go Breaking My Heart by Elton John and Kiki Dee (official article/playback https://www.eltonjohn.com/stories/the-summer-of-76-dont-go-breaking-my-heart). Give everyone the same two-title/credited-artist answer bank and one unscored listen to both excerpts before scoring. Privately label two reusable cue cards 1 and 2 with those recordings. This is a familiarization/matching round, not a claim that players have never heard the answers. Run the posted pairs sequentially. For pair i, the next person after its second partner in the circle cues that turn without joining its answer; for three people this is the third person. Shuffle the two cue cards face down before every pair, let that pair choose one unseen card and keep its identity/player metadata hidden until their answer locks. Play its checked ten-second excerpt, then give the pair 15 seconds to submit one title and both artists, voiced or written by either partner; reveal the current card afterward. Return and reshuffle both cards for the next pair, so knowing an earlier cue never fixes a later pair’s choice. Every participant receives two pair-answer entries and one cueing role; no odd person is restricted to unscored help. For performance mode no audio is needed: show the original house chorus “Our paper lantern lights the way / We save a seat for you today.” Offer each posted pair one chorus-only turn, sung, spoken, read, co-presented or fully passed, without judging pitch. In identification mode each pair earns 1 challenge point for the title and 1 for both credited artists, maximum 2, shared by the two named partners even if only one submits. A wrong or omitted field earns 0. In performance mode a completed chorus turn earns 1 shared completion point for that pair, whether one or both partners deliver it; a fully passed pair turn earns 0 without deducting earlier results. Record a separate row for every posted pair. Do not add the two different modes or turn cueing into a bonus. If a required recording cannot be checked, choose the chorus mode for the whole session before scoring or another complete format; do not compare unlike identification quotas. After all N posted pairs have one complete offered turn, highest shared pair total in the chosen mode wins; tied pair results share. Everyone has two equally offered pair entries, but do not claim identical individual working time or musical difficulty from that fact. Report pair results with both names, rather than an unannounced personal-total championship. If every pair passes, close with no completed-entry winner; no extra singing or duet is needed to break a tie. Selected rule: Choose the host’s identification mode before drafting. Keep the complete N-pair circle and one fresh hidden cue-card choice per posted pair. Record title 1 and both credited artists 1 as one shared pair result under both partners’ names, even if only one submits. Each participant still receives two pair-answer entries and one nonpartner cueing role. A performance decline never changes identification values; a fully passed identification field earns 0. Play the six ten-second excerpts below the posted cap with 15-second year windows. If volume exceeds the cap or anyone asks for less, stop, lower it and replay that item equally before revealing. Do not penalize the requester. An exact keyed year earns 3 challenge points; a year one or two away earns 1 and farther guesses 0. A completed shared volume-cap check earns the whole group 1 separate process point; a later need to lower volume never takes that point away. Selected rule: Use a short quiet excerpt before scoring and agree a lower control setting if needed. Shorter/quieter playback is available later too, with equal replay before reveal; do not treat the precheck as permission to ignore a new request. Scores use challenge points. Optional STUD only if pre-agreed.

Selected rule: Anyone may call stop for volume, strain or device trouble. Pause the common answer timer and keep every locked earlier result. Before a current key is revealed, clear the issue, replay the same checked excerpt equally if needed and resume the common remaining answer time; the affected slot scores only once. If its key was already exposed before some answerers could lock, void that slot for everyone rather than award known-answer retries. No ordinary replay token or required louder playback is needed; a strained speaker can write instead. Use only this selected modifier. It replaces only the schedule, task, eligibility or point condition it explicitly names; keep the remaining host rules and do not stack other optional twists.
