Quick start.

“We will order A-to-Z, then Z-to-A, using the names already used here. Use gestures only. You may pass or observe without explanation or penalty. Walk into line or stay seated and point to the next person. Each prompt scores 1 shared point only when the first check is correct.”

How to play Silent Lineup

Step 1

Use gestures only. Active players may walk into a clear line, or stay seated or stationary: the first person raises a hand, each person points to the next, and the last person crosses both forearms.

Step 2

A passer shows two open palms, observes without helping the order, and may rejoin only for the next prompt; passing never reduces the group score.

Step 3

When the group signals ready, the host verifies the active order aloud and records the score before any corrections.

Step 4

Correct the order if needed, then repeat once in reverse Z-to-A order; identical names may appear together in either order.

Scoring

How the result works

Each prompt scores 1 shared point only when the active order is correct at the first check; a prompt that needs any correction scores 0.

Example: Eight coworkers order A-to-Z while one observes and one stays seated in the pointer chain. The first check is correct, so the group scores 1 shared point.

Host tip

Keep it clean

Using birth month, commute, or another personal prompt, or treating a pass as an error. Use only names already used in the room and keep observers out of scoring.

Safety: Keep the lane clear and walk only. Ask no personal questions; use no phone, document, account, profile, or tracking. Offer the equivalent seated or stationary path.
