Community talk. May contain inaccuracies. Not medical advice. Not a protocol. Not for human or animal use.
Thozalinone attracts interest as a stimulant for focus and mood. Some people describe useful, quiet energy; others get little benefit or find it distracting. The disagreement matters: a weak-feeling session can still leave unwanted effects, and reports about 3F-thozalinone are outside this article.
What it is and why people discuss it
- Thozalinone, tozalinone and CL-39808 identify the same compound. NIST also lists Stimsen and CAS 655-05-0. It is a small molecule related to pemoline, not a peptide; a familiar name on a product does not establish its identity or purity. Official context
- The practical question is whether it helps with tasks. Community interest divides between concentration and a more recreational lift. An older Bluelight contributor called it functional with little pleasure; a later study-focused poster found the euphoria distracting. Bluelight Reddit
- It has a historical clinical record. A 1966 double-blind study in depressed outpatients is indexed in PubMed, but the accessible record contains no abstract. Its existence does not establish that current research products treat depression or improve cognition. Official context
Benefits people report
- Focused energy and mood lift. philgg2 describes productive energy without feeling jittery and a gradual fade rather than a harsh comedown. The account also mentions appetite suppression; its favorable tone is one person’s experience, not a response rate. Reddit
- Little effect is part of the record. In the September comparison thread, zen_flix reports almost no thozalinone effect, and XxRandomShit describes only a weak response. These accounts give no basis for assuming that everyone can reach useful focus by taking more. Reddit
- Feeling good can interfere with the intended task. Recent_Judge675 says the experience was too euphoric for studying. A pleasant feeling and better concentration are different outcomes. Reddit
Doses people discuss
Amounts below describe unverified personal reports. No consistent community dosing standard emerged from the inspected sources.
- 75 mg in one study-focused report; route unstated. That amount was described as distracting rather than useful. It is an individual report, not an established lower end of a dose range. Reddit
- 100–150 mg orally initially; later up to 550 mg. One reviewer’s separate administrations, not a recommended range or daily total. Reddit
- A null mixed-route session: 40 mg nasal, 120 mg oral, then 100 mg rectal. Bijdehandje reports these sequential amounts with little desired effect. Their combined exposure cannot establish the effects or equivalence of any single route. Personal report
- 200 mg-plus in a weak-response comparison. The commenter does not specify route. This does not establish a minimum effective amount, and it should not be merged with the oral account to manufacture a common dose band. Reddit
Half-life
- No defensible numeric community answer was found. The positive reviewer claims a shorter half-life than pemoline and less sleep interference, without measurements or a number. Ease of falling asleep cannot measure how quickly thozalinone leaves the body. Reddit
When people notice it
- About one hour after the first oral use. Subjective onset, not a measured blood peak. Reddit
How long people feel it
- Oral reviewer: 2–7 hours; residual stimulation up to 10 hours. A reply reports over 24 hours at 500 mg, with route unstated for that amount, and two sleepless nights after 400 mg orally. Desired effects and insomnia are different endpoints. Reddit
- Other accounts: about one hour versus 6–7 hours. XxRandomShit describes brief, weak effects; the older Bluelight author describes the longer window without next-day stimulation. Routes are unstated, and the Bluelight amount is missing; these are different reports rather than a predictable duration range. Reddit Bluelight
Repeated use and breaks
- 5 g over about 12 days in one account. Cumulative use, without a fixed daily schedule or tested break pattern. Reddit
- No supported on/off schedule. The older Bluelight author deliberately limited experiments because of previous stimulant addiction. This does not establish a safe break length, reliable tolerance reset or long-term-use pattern. Bluelight
What deserves caution
- Appetite suppression and tiredness also appear. The positive reviewer describes marked hunger suppression at larger amounts. A reply describes yawning and tiredness instead of the expected stimulation. Reddit
- An unwanted effect without the wanted benefit. Dibly__ reports no motivation or euphoria and pain near the liver; no diagnosis establishes its cause. Reddit
- The related-drug liver concern remains unresolved. Published pharmacovigilance research documents serious liver injury with pemoline. That warrants concern but does not establish thozalinone’s risk; neither an uneventful session nor nonspecific pain settles the question. Official context
- Nasal burning appears in a null report. Bijdehandje describes burning with nasal use, followed by little desired effect across a mixed-route session and a somewhat restless night. Route switching makes the experience harder to interpret and is not evidence that an alternative route is safer. Personal report
- A “clean” feeling is not a cardiovascular assessment. The favorable reviewer reports no noticeable heart-rate or blood-pressure change, without supplying measurements. A forum account cannot rule out uncommon or delayed harms, dependence or interactions. Reddit
From community discussion
- The nearest comparisons answer different questions. The September thread favors 4-MPO for noticeable effects, while the older Bluelight account compares thozalinone with N-methylcyclazodone and finds a shorter tail. Neither is a controlled comparison or a milligram-equivalence rule. Reddit Bluelight
- Co-use complicates the oral story. The reviewer disclosed intermittent Seroquel, daily caffeine and nicotine, and later residual restless legs. Attribution remains uncertain. Reddit
- Expectations help explain the arguments, but not the pharmacology. Bijdehandje was seeking the euphoria associated with previous stimulant experiences and found thozalinone disappointing. That is different from wanting quiet concentration, yet neither goal makes a null report less relevant. Personal report
- Patent-based suggestions are not experience reports. The studying thread includes advice derived from a patent rather than a personal trial. Such numbers should not become a standard regimen simply because someone reposts them. Reddit
What the formal evidence can tell us
- Urine detection does not supply a thozalinone half-life. The 1982 analytical paper concerns pemoline, fenozolone and thozalinone, but its abstract’s administered dose and urine concentrations refer to pemoline. They cannot be transferred to thozalinone or turned into a drug-test clearance interval. Official context
- The dated U.S. name screen is limited. The DEA alphabetical list dated August 27, 2026 has no match for the checked thozalinone names. This is not a determination of legality, approval for human use or an assessment of every state, country or analogue rule. Official context
