How to play Soft-Ball Last Team Standing

Step 1

A direct airborne ball contacting the torso, arms, or legs below the shoulders and above the ankles before floor, wall, person, or another ball sends the target to the queue after the ball dies.

Step 2

A catcher who controls a thrown ball while in bounds before it touches floor, wall, another person, or another ball makes a valid catch; that catch takes precedence over simultaneous hand or arm contact, so the catcher stays active and the thrower goes out. Head/neck or ankle/foot contact is dead and no out.

Step 3

If the final active players legally eliminate each other in the same continuous play, nullify both eliminations, return both active, place one ball at each back line, and resume on the host's GO.

Scoring

How the result works

Track active players only; each legal body-zone hit or clean catch creates one out, with no challenge points.

Example: A direct airborne ball contacting the torso, arms, or legs below the shoulders and above the ankles before floor, wall, person, or another ball sends the target to the queue after the ball dies.

Host tip

Keep it clean

Continuing to throw while the host resolves a catch or rescue. Stop and reset first.

Safety: Use one or more matched soft foam balls on a flat clear court, marked bounds and queues, and one host with STOP authority. No head/neck, hard close-range, or blind throws; pause for retrieval or trip hazards; remove a participant for suspected concussion and do not allow same-day return.
