Run the round

How to play Squash Service Box Ladder

Step 1

Serve with at least one foot in the service box and hit the front wall above the service line and below out so the ball first lands in the opposite back quarter unless volleyed.

Step 2

Call short or deep before serving; every fault or wrong-zone serve scores 0 and consumes one of the ten attempts.

Step 3

Switch service boxes after five total attempts and finish all ten.

Scoring

How the result works

A legal serve landing in the called short or deep zone scores 1; every fault or wrong-zone serve scores 0, maximum 10.

Example: Serve with at least one foot in the service box and hit the front wall above the service line and below out so the ball first lands in the opposite back quarter unless volleyed.

Host tip

Keep it clean

Changing the target or serve rule mid-round. Keep one standard for every player.

Safety: Use a suitable squash court, appropriate protective eyewear, and controlled feeds. Stop before any swing when access is blocked or another player is in danger; call interference early, clear loose balls, and follow facility rules.
