Seek Another's Good and God's Glory
Freedom is real, and so is the neighbor across the table.
"All things are lawful" is quoted and then fenced: not all things help, and not all things build. Seek the other's good, not your own. Eat what is sold in the market without anxious investigation, for the earth is the Lord's. Eat what a host sets down unless someone names it as sacrificial food; then abstain for that person's conscience, not because your own is bound. Why should my liberty be judged by another's conscience? If I partake with thanks, why am I denounced for what I give thanks for?
Still: whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Give no avoidable offense to Jews, Greeks, or the church of God. Paul tries to please all in all things, not seeking his own advantage but that of many, that they may be saved, and he calls them to imitate him as he imitates Christ. Seeking another's profit is not a duty to appease abuse, prejudice, manipulation, or every claimed offense.
How this should shape us
Use markets and hospitality without hunting for contamination. When someone names a real conscience wound, yield for their sake. Do not let a manipulator rename control as conscience, and do not treat your liberty as a trophy at the meal.
