One Body Gives Greater Honor to Members Who Lack It
The members you are tempted to hide are the ones God clothes with honor.
As the body is one and has many members, so it is with Christ. In one Spirit they were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all made to drink of one Spirit. The foot cannot say it does not belong because it is not a hand; the ear cannot say that because it is not an eye. If all were one member, where would the body be? God arranged the members as he chose.
The eye cannot tell the hand it has no need, nor the head the feet. On the contrary, the members that seem weaker are indispensable, and those treated as less honorable are given greater honor, so that the body may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer; if one is honored, all rejoice. Oneness does not erase ethnicity, disability, class, gender, or personal boundaries, and it does not forbid naming unequal treatment. It forbids throwing people away.
