Tested Delegates Protect the Gift's Integrity
The collection travels with more than one set of hands because trust is not a control system.
God put earnest care for Corinth into Titus's heart, and Titus goes of his own accord. A brother praised in the gospel, appointed by the churches, travels with him, and another tested brother joins them. Paul takes this precaution so that no one can blame them in this generous gift; they aim at what is honorable not only before the Lord but also before people. Corinth is to show proof of love before the churches.
Trust in a leader does not replace dual control, independent selection, receipts, audit trails, or conflict-of-interest safeguards. Church appointment does not make delegates unaccountable. Public proof of love does not require publishing private donor identities.
How this should shape us
Put more than one tested person on the money. Use church-level authorization, written custody, and transparent reporting, and never let a single trusted name be the whole system.
