Final Greetings Preserve Human Need and Grace
Winter, illness, and named friends close the letter under grace
Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus. Erastus remained at Corinth, and Trophimus I left ill at Miletus. Do your best to come before winter. Eubulus, Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers send greetings. The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.
The closing keeps human need inside grace: a sick coworker, a season that will close the roads, households still named after care already given. Trophimus's illness does not prove deficient faith, hidden sin, or a refused guaranteed healing. Come before winter is pastoral urgency, not a claim on Timothy's body. Grace is spoken over the community, not only over a heroic individual.
How this should shape us
Greet the people who have actually carried you. If someone is ill, do not explain it as a spiritual failure. If a season is closing, make the visit you can make without pretending that faith cancels weather, bodies, or need.
