Exodus 29:38–46
Daily Offerings Serve the Promise to Dwell
Two lambs every day, morning and evening
On the altar: two lambs of the first year, day by day continually—one in the morning, the other at even—each with a tenth of flour mingled with a fourth hin of beaten oil and a fourth hin of wine. The evening lamb matches the morning grain and drink offering, a sweet savour by fire. It is a continual burnt offering throughout generations at the door of the tent of meeting.
I will meet you, dwell among them, and be known as the God who brought them out
There God will meet them and speak. He will meet the children of Israel; the tent will be sanctified by his glory. He will sanctify tent, altar, Aaron, and sons. 'I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God. And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them.'
Daily lambs are not an engine to purchase presence. They are the regular meeting rhythm whose purpose statement returns to 25:8 and to the exodus: the God who brought them out intends to dwell among them.
How this should shape us
Keep daily practices attached to the God who already rescued, not to a theory that more offering buys more presence. If meeting is promised at a door, make the morning and evening work sustainable for the people who actually do it.
