Ezekiel 18:10–13
A Violent Son Is Accountable for His Own Conduct
If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood
If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things, and that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife, hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination, hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live?
He shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him. A violent son is not sheltered by a just parent.
Accountability is not a private gallows
The unit names the son's own bloodshed, oppression, and predatory lending. Parent righteousness is not transferable cover.
Accountability does not authorize execution by private actors or equate every family rupture with parental failure. A community may still need law. A parent is not automatically guilty of a child's violence.
How this should shape us
Do not hide a robber in a good parent's reputation. Also do not kill, and do not decide that a family's pain means the parent failed the list.
