Ezekiel 21:25–27
The Profane Prince Loses Crown and Turban until the Rightful One Comes
And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel
Whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end, thus saith the Lord GOD; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high.
I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him. Turban and crown come off in a royal crisis. High and low change places.
Until he come whose right it is
The saying holds the ruined order open toward a rightful receiver. Later messianic hearing may listen here. It must not erase the exilic prince in front of Ezekiel.
The saying does not identify a modern monarch or party. Overturned diadem is Judah's crisis, not a campaign ad, and not a proof-text that skips the wounded throne in the text.
How this should shape us
Let a wicked crown come off without handing it to a current candidate. Hope toward the one whose right it is, and keep that hope from flattening this prince's fall.
