Egypt is sent down to a crowded grave of empires

In the twelfth year, the fifteenth day, Ezekiel wails for the multitude of Egypt and casts them down, even her and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the nether parts of the earth, with them that go down into the pit. Whom dost thou pass in beauty? go down, and be thou laid with the uncircumcised.

They shall fall in the midst of them that are slain by the sword. Asshur is there and all her company, graves round about, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who caused their terror in the land of the living. Elam is there with her multitude. Meshech, Tubal, and all her multitude are there. They lie uncircumcised with the slain, though they were the terror of the mighty.

Edom, the Zidonians, and Pharaoh see the same bed

Edom is there, her kings and all her princes, who with their might are laid by them that were slain by the sword. The princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians went down with the slain, ashamed of their terror. Pharaoh shall see them, and shall be comforted over all his multitude, even Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword.

Pharaoh caused his terror in the land of the living; therefore he is laid in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that are slain. The catalogue is a funeral of military terrors, not a map of current ethnic enemies, and not a complete doctrine of each person's afterlife. Comfort here is the grim company of fallen powers, not gospel rest.
