Ezra 8:24–30
Treasurers receive weighed sacred gifts
Twelve priests receive a weighed charge
Ezra sets apart twelve of the chiefs of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brothers, and weighs into their hand silver, gold, and vessels, the offering for the house of God that the king, his counselors, princes, and all Israel present had offered. Holy things move by weight and witness, not by vague trust.
Watch and keep until the chambers in Jerusalem
He calls the silver, gold, and vessels holy to the Lord, and tells the men they are holy. They are to watch and keep them until they weigh them before the chiefs of the priests and Levites and fathers of Israel in the chambers of the house. Custody is a spiritual task with an audit at the far end. Arrival will not be a feeling. It will be a scale.
