Galatians 6:11–18
The Cross and New Creation Replace Boasting in the Flesh
Boast in the cross and walk by new creation, not in someone else's circumcised flesh.
In large letters Paul contrasts teachers who compel Gentile circumcision to avoid persecution for the cross and to boast in others' bodies. He will boast only in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world is crucified to him and he to the world. Circumcision and uncircumcision yield to new creation.
Peace and mercy rest on those who walk by this rule, and on the Israel of God. That phrase does not authorize antisemitism, supersessionist contempt, or the claim that Jews ceased to matter to God. The marks of Jesus on Paul's body are scars of mission, not a call to self-harm.
How this should shape us
Let the cross, not a membership trophy, be your pride. Seek new creation and mercy toward Israel's God-given people, and do not treat anyone's body as your boast.

Where do careful interpreters disagree?
Best judgment: Major readings take the Israel of God as the whole Christ-community, Jewish Christ-believers within it, Israel alongside the church as an object of blessing, a future believing Israel, or historical Israel across the prior age. The epexegetical reading coheres with one-community emphasis; the ordinary copulative reading can distinguish groups. Because the phrase is unique and compressed, the package leaves the referent UNCERTAIN and selects no supersessionist conclusion.
