Read verses 29–34 as one bargain. Verse 30 voices Esau's urgent request, verses 31–33 record Jacob's price and oath, and verse 34 gives both the meal and the narrator's verdict. Reading verse 29 alone would leave the ethical pressure and exchange unstated.
