Sabbath Delight Redirects Self-Serving Speech
If you turn back your foot from the sabbath
Holy time is honored by not doing as you please on the Lord's holy day, by calling the sabbath a delight rather than a burden, and by restraining the mouth from self-serving talk. Then you shall take delight in the Lord; I will make you ride on the heights of the land; I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.
Sabbath here is Israel's gift and command, a halt in the same economy that was just accused of exploiting workers. Delight is the surprise: rest is not grim. This unit does not authorize anti-Judaism, contempt for Jewish ritual, spiritual manipulation, or violent conclusions from worship critique.
Foot and speech are the small gates. A warranted life is to practice a holy stop that is not a new performance, to refuse using sabbath against Jews, and to let delight in God interrupt the habit of turning every day into self-business.
