Heaven's Throne Exposes Manipulative Worship

Heaven is my throne; where is the house you would build

The earth is a footstool. What house could contain this God, what resting place? All these things God's hand has made. Yet this is the one to whom I will look: the humble, the contrite in spirit, who trembles at my word. Whoever slaughters an ox is like one who kills a person—when the offering is joined to chosen abominations. I also will choose their mockeries and bring their fears, because when I called, no one answered, and they chose what God did not delight in.

Temple critique is aimed at manipulative worship, not at erasing Jewish temple history or equating Judaism with empty ritual. Contempt for worshipers is a misuse. Divine regard lands on trembling humility. Violence in the sacrifice comparison exposes worship that has made peace with harm.

I called and no one answered is the same grief as chapter 65. A warranted life is to stop trying to house God as a way of managing God, to become the person God will look at, and to refuse offerings that keep a fist closed around a neighbor.
