Trials Produce Endurance; Wisdom Is Asked from God
Count it joy without calling the pain good
James tells brothers and sisters to reckon trials of many kinds as an occasion for joy because tested faith can produce endurance, and endurance can finish a person toward wholeness. The joy is not the wound. The joy is that God can grow a durable life through pressure. Lament is not failure. Cheerful feelings are not the assignment. Medicine, safety, and escape from abuse are not unbelief.
If you lack wisdom, ask God, who gives generously and without scolding. The double-minded picture is a divided loyalty, not a trap for the anxious or the traumatized. Bring the real request. Stay with God while the test is still on. Endurance here is remaining, not pretending, and not remaining in harm that you are free to leave.
How this should shape us
Ask God for wisdom in the trial you are actually in, without faking cheer and without treating medicine, lament, or escape from abuse as unbelief. Endurance means staying with God, not staying in harm you are free to leave.
