Nehemiah 3:16–3:23
Repairs pass royal, military, priestly, and household sites
The line passes tombs, water, and an armory
Nehemiah son of Azbuk repairs to the sepulchres of David, the pool that was made, and the house of the mighty. Levites, Hashabiah of Keilah, Bavai, and Ezer of Mizpah take the next lengths, including a piece to the going up of the armoury at the turning of the wall.
Priests repair opposite their own houses
Baruch earnestly repairs another piece from the turning to the door of Eliashib's house. Meremoth continues past that house. Priests of the plain, then Benjamin and Hashub, Azariah beside his house, keep the sequence. Public masonry and domestic doorways occupy the same circuit.
Proximity can bind people to a wall outside their door. It does not give anyone a right to compel a household or hide unequal protection.
