Nehemiah 7:66–7:69
People, enslaved servants, singers, and animals are totaled
The congregation is totaled, then servants and singers
The whole congregation together is forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore. Beside them are seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven manservants and maidservants, and two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women.
Animals are inventoried beside enslaved people
Horses, mules, camels, and asses are counted in the same closing block. The census exposes a social order that can list human servants with transport. Those servants are persons. The mismatch between grand total and visible subtotals, and the differences from parallel lists, belong to honest reading rather than to forced harmony.

Read inherited totals so that people hidden inside servant categories are restored as persons. Name coercive status. Never treat a human being as an asset column.
