Priests Receive Sacred Portions as an Ongoing Due

Holy portions are Aaron's due from the people's offerings

The LORD gives Aaron the charge of his heave offerings, of all the hallowed things of Israel, by reason of the anointing, by a statute forever. The most holy things reserved from fire—every oblation, meat offering, sin offering, trespass offering—are his and his sons', eaten in the most holy place, every male. Wave offerings, the best of oil, wine, wheat, firstfruits, every devoted thing, the firstborn of man and beast, with redemption of unclean firstborn and of firstling of unclean beasts at the five-shekel rate, and the firstling of a cow, sheep, or goat whose blood is sprinkled and whose flesh the priest's family, males and females clean, may eat: these are the named dues.

The LORD calls it a covenant of salt forever with Aaron and his seed. Salt says the arrangement is meant to last and not go rotten. It does not say the household may extract wealth in secret.

Compensation for altar work is not a market in children or forgiveness

Firstborn of man are redeemed, not eaten and not sold as property equivalent to a calf. Devoted things and firstfruits support the priestly table because that house was given no ordinary field in the next unit. Support can be just. It becomes extraction when fees are hidden, when forgiveness is sold, or when children and animals are treated as interchangeable assets.

Household eligibility, including daughters when clean, keeps the due inside the serving family. That is still not a warrant for financial secrecy.
