Proverbs 3:21–26
Keep sound wisdom and walk securely
Sound wisdom is kept in view so that a neck can wear it and a soul can live
My son, do not let them depart from your eyes; keep sound wisdom and discretion. They will be life to your soul and adornment for your neck. Then you will walk your way securely, and your foot will not stumble.
Sleep and sudden dread are addressed without forbidding real precautions
When you lie down you will not be afraid; you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Do not fear sudden terror or the ruin of the wicked when it comes, for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from capture.
Sweet sleep is the fruit of a life not plotting harm, not a rebuke to insomnia, night terror, or trauma. Locks, companions, and qualified help remain ordinary wisdom. The ruin of the wicked is their harvest, not a show you must watch without compassion, and not a promise that the loyal are never startled.
How this should shape us
Keep wise dealing where you can see it during the day so that night is not full of your own schemes. When fear or sleeplessness is a medical or traumatic burden, seek care. Do not use this text to scold a frightened person.
