Proverbs 3:5–8
Trust the LORD without self-sufficient understanding
Trust is wholehearted, and it dethrones a private omniscience
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight. The contrast is not between faith and thought. It is between reliance on the LORD and the posture that treats one's own insight as enough.
Humility before God is paired with leaving evil, not with a medical charm
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and turn from evil. It will be healing to your navel and moisture to your bones.
Navel and bones are a picture of inner soundness in Hebrew body-language. They are not a diagnosis, not a reason to skip a physician, and not proof that disease is unbelief. The fear of the LORD here shows itself as departure from evil, still not as a prosperity formula.
How this should shape us
Bring the whole of a decision under the LORD, including the parts you already understand. Use your mind; do not enthrone it. Seek medical and practical help when the body is hurting, and do not preach this healing line as a substitute for care.
