Coluracetam is a synthetic racetam discussed for a brighter mood, calmer thinking and more vivid sights or sounds. Some people describe easier focus or initiative; others feel nothing, become foggy or find that a pleasant effect turns uncomfortable. The reports are sensitive to amount, repeated use and other substances taken alongside it.

What Coluracetam is

  • MKC-231 and BCI-540 are names for the same compound. Coluracetam is a non-peptide member of the racetam family, chemically related to piracetam. Swallowed capsules and powder held under the tongue appear in community reports; a supplier name does not establish what a particular product contains. Official context Official context Reddit · r/Nootropics
  • The choline explanation comes from animal and laboratory research. Choline is used to make the messenger acetylcholine. Research on MKC-231 suggests it increases the availability of transporters that bring choline into nerve endings; that mechanism does not establish better memory or mood in people. Animal context
  • Piracetam and Noopept are comparisons, not interchangeable forms. A direct comparison thread contrasts gram-scale piracetam use with much smaller Coluracetam amounts and a different subjective feel. Noopept is another distinct molecule discussed for cognition; neither its dose nor its timing can be transferred to Coluracetam. Personal report Official context

What people hope to notice

  • A better mood may feel like more willingness to do things. A capsule user described greater initiative while also taking choline bitartrate. Another commenter described calm making stressful tasks easier, but could not speak to memory improvement. Feeling more capable is useful to describe without calling it a proven cognitive gain. Reddit · r/Nootropics
  • Sensory vividness is uneven. In a vendor-named Reddit community, one long-term user said visual effects remained after other benefits faded; another reported mood and energy changes without visual enhancement. “HD vision” is a subjective description, not evidence of repaired eyesight. Doses people discuss

Amounts are reported experiences, not suggested regimens. mg means milligrams; swallowed and sublingual amounts are not proven equivalent.

  • 10–30 mg under the tongue appears in a firsthand report. The commenter described calming effects and on-and-off use. Sublingual means under the tongue; frequency was not specified, so this is not automatically a daily total or a safe range. Reddit · r/Nootropics
  • 20–40 mg in capsules appears with choline co-use. One user reported one or two 20 mg capsules, equivalent to 20–40 mg on a dosing occasion; frequency was unclear. A separate user taking 20 mg orally each morning described no obvious felt effect and an uncertain mood-tracker benefit within a large stack. Reddit · r/Nootropics
  • Around 25–30 mg felt worse for one user; 5 mg also appears in an adverse account. One respondent described bad mood and unpleasant body sensations near 25–30 mg, with route unstated. The 5 mg sublingual adverse report also involved 500 mg choline bitartrate. These are individual reports, not upper and lower safety boundaries. Personal report Personal report

Half-life: the circulating claim

  • About three hours is a reposted estimate, not a verified human measurement. A promotional article reposted to MuscleChemistry gives this number without identifying a human pharmacokinetic measurement. It belongs here only as a claim people encounter; the inspected material does not establish a dependable route-specific half-life. Half-life describes an amount falling by half, not when a mood effect ends. Community guide

Onset: when people notice a change

  • About 30 minutes appears in both pleasant and adverse accounts. A LongeCity compilation quotes effects becoming stronger after half an hour following 10 mg, without a clear route in that excerpt. In the original Reddit adverse account, thinking and coordination became difficult about 30 minutes after 5 mg Coluracetam plus 500 mg choline bitartrate, both sublingual. Neither supplies a universal onset time. LongeCity · quoted compilation Personal report

Duration: how long a felt effect lasts

  • Roughly 3–5 hours appears in quoted experience reports. One account reproduced on LongeCity describes its strongest effect through 3–5 hours after onset while experimenting with 5–15 mg once daily, sometimes oral and sometimes sublingual. A separate quoted 10 mg account says effects were gone by almost five hours. These are copied subjective reports, not independent clearance measurements. LongeCity · quoted compilation

Cycles and time off

  • As-needed use and intermittent use both appear. One respondent used it as needed for recreation. On Bluelight, another person described 10–20 mg several times weekly over months, with choline often included; route was not stated. Neither pattern establishes an optimal cycle or break length. Personal report Bluelight
  • The same amount can feel different as use continues. Bluelight’s cdin moved from about 20 mg daily to about 10 mg daily, then about 7 mg every few days after increased anxiety. Another participant said early effects faded over a month. These conflicting trajectories do not establish either predictable tolerance or “reverse tolerance.” Bluelight

Good to know

  • Fog and impaired coordination can defeat the intended purpose. The acute Reddit report describes difficulty thinking, writing and reaching accurately. Other replies describe cognitive dulling, while a separate 20 mg sublingual user reports a pleasant experience. Choline co-use in the original account leaves the cause unresolved; a small reported amount is not reassurance. Personal report
  • A mood lift can become activation, anxiety or sleepiness. The Bluelight follow-up includes self-described hypomania-like activation and later anxiety. A long-term Reddit user eventually reported drowsiness. LongeCity’s compiled accounts also mention nausea, headache and delayed sleep onset, sometimes with other compounds involved. These reports do not establish incidence. Bluelight Reddit · vendor-named community LongeCity · quoted compilation
  • Long-term safety and combinations remain uncertain. Accounts do not verify product identity, dose accuracy or medication interactions. Feeling fine for a period, or attributing a problem to choline, cannot establish safety; there is no validated rescue combination in these discussions. Reddit · r/Nootropics Personal report Reddit · vendor-named community
  • U.S. approval and controlled-substance scheduling are different questions. An FDA-hosted 2023 announcement explicitly names Coluracetam among unapproved racetam drugs. The accessed DEA list had no match for Coluracetam or its development-code stems, but that limited name screen is not legal clearance for sale, import or use. Official context Official context

What the community disagreements add

  • No response remains part of the picture even at higher reported amounts. One commenter reported no effect at 25–150 mg/day over up to two weeks, despite responding to other racetams; the route was unstated. That is a null report, not evidence that a higher amount or longer experiment was needed. Reddit · r/Nootropics
  • Choline is a confounder, not a settled requirement. It accompanies both the capsule initiative report and the acute impairment report. In the latter thread, replies disagree about the experience rather than establish a mechanism. An acetylcholine explanation cannot tell a reader whether more choline will help. Reddit · r/Nootropics Personal report
  • Visual changes and useful work can separate. One respondent preferred Coluracetam’s mood effects but mainly used it for gaming and had not tested demanding mental work. The long-term vendor-forum account retained visual effects after other benefits disappeared. A more vivid experience is not automatically better learning. Personal report Reddit · vendor-named community
  • Route preferences do not establish absorption ratios. Swallowed and sublingual reports differ, and the vendor-named forum also contains nasal experimentation. Those stories do not establish a route advantage or milligram conversion. A “pinhead” of powder in that thread is not a measured dose. Reddit · r/Nootropics Reddit · vendor-named community

What the human research adds

  • The sponsor reported no overall benefit in its exploratory depression-and-anxiety trial. A reprint of BrainCells’ 2010 announcement describes a six-week randomized placebo-controlled study with 101 evaluable patients. It reports no overall advantage on depression or anxiety scales, alongside a favorable subgroup signal. The inspected source is a sponsor release reprint, not a peer-reviewed trial report; it does not establish healthy-user cognitive enhancement. Official context
