Acts 19:21–19:22

Paul sets Jerusalem and Rome on the horizon

Jerusalem and Rome are named before the road is clear

Paul resolves in the spirit, after passing through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem and then to see Rome. He sends Timothy and Erastus ahead into Macedonia and remains in Asia for a time.

The phrase may describe Paul's own resolve or the Holy Spirit's constraint. Either way, the plan becomes a horizon that later chapters interrupt with riot, warning, arrest, and appeal. Coworkers go ahead. The destination is named; the route is not yet secured.

How this should shape us

Name a long-range intention with open hands and accountable teammates. Do not baptize every ambition as divine, and do not treat the people you send ahead as mere logistics.

Teach it back

Explain Acts 19:21–19:22 in your own words, naming its movement, speaker or narrator role, one source-controlled detail, one uncertainty, one affected person, and one conclusion the passage does not authorize.

Your explanation stays in this browser. It is not sent or saved.
