Acts 20:17–20:24
Paul reviews his service and accepts a costly course
Miletus hears a servant's record and a life placed below a finished witness
From Miletus Paul summons the Ephesian elders. He recalls serving among them with humility, tears, and trials from plots, teaching publicly and from house to house, declaring to Jews and Greeks repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus. Now he goes bound in the Spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing what will meet him except that in every city the Holy Spirit testifies that imprisonment and afflictions await. He does not count his life precious to himself if he may finish the course and the ministry to testify to the gospel of God's grace.
This is Paul's self-testimony inside Luke's narrative, not independent proof of every claim. The plots named are particular. Voluntary risk here cannot be imposed on dependents or on people without this calling. Costly vocation is not a credential of superiority.

Serve with humility, public and household truthfulness, and financial integrity. Accept a costly duty you have actually been given, without making suffering a badge or commanding others into preventable harm.
