Wisdom Investigates and Increases Sorrow
A king-like investigator takes up wisdom
Qoheleth, still in the royal pose, gave his heart to search by wisdom all that is done under heaven. The sore travail is given to the sons of men. He has seen all the works; all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
That which is crooked cannot be made straight. In much wisdom is much grief, and he that increases knowledge increases sorrow. Investigation is praised as a task and then shown to hurt. The unit does not tell you to stay ignorant.
How this should shape us
Tell the truth that seeing more can increase grief. Do not use that fact to hide evidence, and do not treat expertise as a cure for the world's crookedness.
