Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
Fear God, Keep Commandments, Await Judgment
Fear God, keep his commandments; this is the whole of man
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
The ending binds reverence, obedience, and comprehensive judgment. It does not teach that obedience guarantees prosperity or safety. Fear of God does not authorize fear-based control by clergy, parents, rulers, or spouses. Judgment of secrets does not authorize date-setting, conspiracy mapping, antisemitism, or cruelty. Qoheleth's earlier cries about oppression and death remain on the page.

Keep commandments and expect hidden things to be judged. Reject any leader who uses this ending to claim immunity, to terrify, or to erase the book's honest protests.
