Ezekiel 28:24–26, King James Version

Ezekiel 28:24–26

Israel Is Gathered to Dwell Securely after Neighbor Judgment

When the pricking brier is gone, Israel is gathered

There shall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that despised them. They shall know that the LORD is God. Neighbor judgment in chapters 25–28 is here given its inner purpose: relief from those who despised Israel.

The LORD gathers the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and is sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen. They dwell in their land that he gave to his servant Jacob.

Building, planting, and dwelling with confidence

They dwell safely, build houses, plant vineyards, and dwell with confidence, when the LORD has executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about. They shall know that he is the LORD their God.

The promise is restoration after scorn, not a license to dispossess neighbors, not a claim that a modern state is beyond moral scrutiny, and not a rule that nearby peoples are thorns by ethnicity. Holiness before the nations is the stated public meaning.

How this should shape us

Hope for a despised people's safety without turning neighbors into weeds. Support rebuilding and planting as gifts. Keep every present government under ordinary justice, and do not use 'brier' language as ethnic contempt.
