Ezekiel 33:23–29
Land Possession Claims Are Rejected amid Continuing Violence
Abraham was one, and we are many
They that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many; the land is given us for inheritance. The remaining population claims the empty places by arithmetic and ancestry.
The LORD asks Ezekiel to say: Ye eat with the blood, ye lift up your eyes toward your idols, ye shed blood—and shall ye possess the land? Ye stand upon your sword, ye work abomination, ye defile every one his neighbour's wife—and shall ye possess the land?
Desolation answers presumption, not a modern eviction order
Those who are in the wastes shall fall by the sword; him that is in the open field the LORD has given to the beasts; they in the forts and caves shall die of the pestilence. The land is most desolate, her pomp ceases, and the mountains of Israel are desolate, none passing through, so they shall know that he is the LORD, when he has made the land most desolate because of all their abominations.
Abraham's story does not authorize modern dispossession, armed entitlement, or collective condemnation of whoever now lives on a map. The unit rejects a land claim that keeps bloodshed, idolatry, and sexual violation in place.
How this should shape us
Do not quote a holy ancestor to cover violence, idolatry, or a neighbor's wife. A crowd plus a patriarch is not a title. Refuse armed entitlement now, and refuse to treat remaining residents as a single guilty mass.
