Ezekiel 40:48–49
The Temple Porch Is Measured
The porch is the last measured threshold of chapter 40
He brings Ezekiel to the porch of the house and measures each post of the porch, five cubits on this side and five cubits on that side. The breadth of the gate is three cubits on this side and three cubits on that side.
The length of the porch is twenty cubits, the breadth eleven cubits; and he brought him by the steps whereby they went up to it. Pillars are by the posts, one on this side and another on that side.
From gates to house without a modern blueprint
After outer wall, outer gates, pavement, inner gates, slaughter tables, and priest chambers, the porch completes the approach into the temple structure itself.
Porch posts, width, steps, and pillars do not supply a buildable modern drawing without unresolved textual and measurement questions. Chapter 41 will enter the nave. This unit only finishes the threshold.
How this should shape us
Stay on the porch long enough to notice you are about to enter. Do not skip from city wall to inner glory as if steps were nothing, and do not print these cubits as a contractor's plan.
