Galatians 5:16–26
The Spirit Forms One Fruit against Community-Destroying Flesh
The Spirit grows one fruit where flesh fractures people.
Walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out fleshly desire. Flesh and Spirit contend; being led by the Spirit means you are not under the law as that old membership regime. The works of the flesh—idolatry, faction, envy, sexual exploitation, and the rest—tear bodies and community.
The Spirit produces one integrated fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions—renouncing a way of life, not harming the body. Flesh does not mean the body is evil, sexuality dirty, disability sinful, or emotion forbidden.

Keep in step with the Spirit in speech, appetite, and conflict. Seek the fruit that holds a people together, and refuse any piety that treats your body as an enemy.
