Read verses 9–15 together. Verses 9–12 contain the appearance and promise; verse 13 marks its close; verses 14–15 record Jacob's pillar, offerings, and place-name. Verse 13 alone does not describe God's ordinary location or limits.

The departure language closes a visible encounter; it does not teach that God is spatially confined or absent from everywhere else.
