Move from Dull Hearing toward Practiced Discernment
Maturity is practiced discernment, not a rank or a secret
The preacher wants to discuss Melchizedek but says the hearers have become dull and need milk again. Solid food belongs to people whose faculties are trained by practice to distinguish good and evil. They should move toward completeness without endlessly relaying the foundation—repentance, faith, washings, laying on of hands, resurrection, judgment—God permitting.
Calling hearers dull is a diagnosis of sluggish listening, not a slur on disability, trauma, new faith, or processing speed. Moving beyond foundations does not mean abandoning repentance or resurrection. Maturity is not unquestioning agreement, leadership rank, or freedom from correction.
How this should shape us
Teach without humiliation. Practice distinguishing good from evil on real cases, and treat questions as part of grown hearing rather than as proof that someone is stuck.
