Blind Watchmen Leave the Flock to Predators
Come and devour, beasts of the field
The welcome of the previous unit is immediately threatened by leadership failure. Watchmen are blind, without knowledge, silent dogs who cannot bark, dreamers lying down, shepherds who turn to their own way. They come for gain. They say, let us get wine; tomorrow will be like today, great beyond measure.
Predators are invited because the guards have clocked out. The flock is Israel after the gathering vision, still vulnerable to insiders who prefer appetite to alarm. This is not a toy for partisan scoring, not a license for punitive control, and not a way to shout about justice while our own institutions chew people.
Tomorrow-will-be-the-same is the theology of the well-fed. A warranted life is to bark when the flock is in danger, to refuse the extra wineskin of self-congratulation, and to measure leaders by whether the vulnerable are eaten.
