Teachers Face Stricter Judgment; the Tongue Must Not Curse God's Image
Do not bless God and burn a person with the same mouth
Not many should become teachers, because speech carries stricter judgment. A bit, a rudder, a spark: small things steer and destroy. The tongue can stain a life and set a community on fire. James is aiming at destructive speech that praises God and curses people made in God's likeness. He is not handing the church a license to police every word of trauma survivors, children, or the newly bereaved. Raw truth-telling after harm is not the same as a cursing spring.
A spring does not pour fresh and bitter from the same opening. The call is integrity, not surveillance. This warning does not prohibit qualified teaching, honest correction, reporting abuse, survivor testimony, or protective public warning. Confess words that have wounded. Keep teaching offices away from people who cannot bridle cruelty. When someone is shaking, do not quote this chapter as a muzzle.

Bless God with a mouth that will not curse people made in his likeness. Confess speech that has wounded, and do not use this chapter to muzzle survivors, reporters of abuse, or honest correction.
