Bildad Pictures the Wicked's Light and Steps Trapped
Bildad returns to a general portrait: the wicked person's light goes out
Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine. The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him. The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.
Feet, nets, and snares are stacked until walking itself is trap
For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare. The gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him. The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.
The imagery remains a wisdom portrait deployed against Job, not proof that calamity identifies wickedness. A snare poem aimed at a man whose children have died is already a misuse.
How this should shape us
Do not read a darkened lamp as a name-tag. Steps can be trapped by many causes; this poem does not license you to call a grieving household wicked.
