Mark 13:24-27
The Son of Man Gathers the Elect after Cosmic Upheaval
After that distress, he gathers his own from the four winds
In those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. Then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.
Prophetic cosmic language frames the appearing of the Son of man and the gathering of the elect from the whole world. The hope is his power and the completeness of that gathering. Cosmic signs do not authorize date-setting or panic over ordinary eclipses and storms. Mark is not handing you a sky chart for next Tuesday.
How this should shape us
Put your weight on the Son of man who gathers his people, not on a weather event or eclipse you can photograph. Let hope look like endurance, not like a panic about the sky.
