Matthew 19:13–19:15
Jesus receives and blesses children
Let the children come
People bring children for his touch and prayer. Disciples rebuke them. Jesus says, let them come; do not stop them; the kingdom of heaven belongs to such. He lays hands on them and goes on.
The children are low-status people, not emblems of adult innocence. Welcome requires concrete protection. Blessing does not suspend consent or safeguarding, and it does not make children a backdrop for a leader's tenderness.
How this should shape us
Stop the adults who treat children as interruption. Make room, keep the space safe, and do not use a blessing as cover for touch a child cannot refuse. Kingdom welcome is practical, not cute.
