Nehemiah 12:38–12:43
Two processions join in joy heard afar
The second company goes the other way, Nehemiah after it
The other company of them that gave thanks goes over against them, and Nehemiah after them, with the half of the people upon the wall, from beyond the tower of the furnaces even unto the broad wall, from above the gate of Ephraim, the old gate, the fish gate, the tower of Hananeel, the tower of Meah, even unto the sheep gate. They stand still in the prison gate.
Both choirs stand in the house of God; wives and children rejoice
So stand the two companies of them that gave thanks in the house of God, and Nehemiah, and the half of the rulers with him. Priests with trumpets, and singers led by Jezrahiah, are there. They offer great sacrifices and rejoice: for God has made them rejoice with great joy. The wives also and the children rejoice, so that the joy of Jerusalem is heard even afar off.
The climax widens beyond male officials. Households are participants, not scenery. Loud joy does not cancel the project's costs or authorize triumph over neighbors.

Make public celebration include families and supporting workers. Remember sacrifice without humiliating outsiders. Keep unresolved harms on the record beside the singing.
