Nehemiah 12:31–12:37
The first thanksgiving procession crosses the wall
Two thanksgiving companies are appointed; the first walks the wall
Nehemiah brings up the princes of Judah upon the wall and appoints two great companies of them that gave thanks. One goes on the right hand upon the wall toward the dung gate, with Hoshaiah and half of the princes of Judah, and named priests with trumpets. Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam, Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, Jeremiah, and certain of the priests' sons with trumpets, including Zechariah son of Jonathan, follow.

They go up by the stairs of the city of David, at the going up of the wall, above the house of David, even unto the water gate eastward. Judah's princes, priests, and musicians publicly traverse the repaired circuit.
The procession verifies and celebrates a city's restored wall after ruin. It is not a timeless sacred-border ideology, and it does not erase unnamed laborers or residents.
How this should shape us
Let the people who live with a structure inspect and celebrate it. Credit the builders. State the limited purpose of the boundary: safety and civic life in this city, not a slogan against neighboring peoples.
