Psalms 77:10–15
Nightlong lament remembers the exodus: The speaker turns to remembered deeds
The speaker names infirmity and chooses the long right hand as the next work
And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High. The KJV frames the turn as weakness admitted, then memory chosen. I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.
Meditation and speech are the discipline after a night that would not speak. They are not a technique that makes every later night obedient. The psalm does not scold 77:1-9 for having happened.
The sanctuary way and the redeemed sons of Jacob and Joseph become the content of memory
Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God? Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people. Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph.
Jacob and Joseph keep northern names inside an Asaphite memory of redemption. The greatness question is answered by old wonders, not by a present feeling of favor. This turn addresses divine silence with story. It is not proof that a distressed person should recover by recalling facts alone, and it is not yet the sea-path of the next movement.
How this should shape us
When speech returns, spend it on God's old works rather than on a theory of your night. Remember with other people if you can; do not weaponize memory against someone still unable to be comforted.
