Psalms 93:1–5
The LORD reigns over roaring waters
The LORD reigns, clothed, while floods lift their voice
The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting. After Book III's failed monarchy, this brief hymn names a different king.
The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea. Roaring water is chaos heard, not a weather forecast and not a baptism of any human government as divine-right rule.
Sure testimonies and a holy house close the hymn
Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever. The throne older than floods is matched by reliable instruction and a house that must fit holiness. Majesty in the poem is not pageantry for a modern nation, party, or sanctuary brand.
How this should shape us
When public noise feels like a flood, name the LORD as king without baptizing a ruler, a flag, or a building. Let sure testimonies, not volume, decide what holiness looks like in the house you actually enter.
