Romans 2:17–29
Boasting in Law Is Exposed by Disobedience; True Praise Comes from God
Boasting in law is exposed by disobedience; true praise comes from God.
Paul addresses a representative who relies on the law, boasts in God, and claims to be a guide to the blind, then asks whether theft, adultery, and temple robbery contradict that boast. Circumcision benefits if one practices the law; if one is a transgressor, the sign is not a shield. A person is a Jew inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart by the Spirit, whose praise is from God, not from people.
The charge is hypocrisy in a boast, not a verdict that Jews, Judaism, circumcision, or Torah are inherently hypocritical. Jewish identity and covenant signs are not the problem. Using the gift while harming neighbors is.

If your religious resume is sharper than your honesty, stop teaching others until you tell the truth about yourself. Honor Jewish identity and practice; do not turn this text into a slur against a people or their covenant sign.
